Every morning we start with a big ole glass of water with lemon and either ginger or cayenne. We want to rehydrate first thing in the morning and many Transformers find this small act is the Keystone Habit that sets the intention to live healthy that day.

Why the weird potion?

Adding lemon (or apple cider vinegar) to the water will add some B complex vitamins, restore an appropriate PH balance, by alkalizing the body, help in detoxification by supporting the liver, and wake up the digestive system. Lemon water is a source of anti-oxidants, is considered a liver stimulant, and helps to encourage liver function while stimulating bile output, which aids digestion.

Ginger and cayenne boost the immune system and rev up the metabolism. It’s the Funky Cold Medina OF HEALTH.

Morning Mojo: Lemon Ginger Detox

Ingredients:
8 oz glass of water (at room temperature)
juice of 1/2 lemon (approx 1-1.5 tbsp) (you can alternate w/apple cider vinegar)
either 1/2-inch knob ginger root, finely grated OR a pinch of cayenne pepper

Directions:
Add the lemon juice or vinegar to the glass of water. Stir in ginger or cayenne pepper.

Chug it down first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then wait about 10-15 mins before eating anything else to let it work it’s magic!

 Chase with an additional glass of water! The perfect way to start your day!

*note about ginger:

1 tablespoon of juice equals 1 tablespoon of fresh grated ginger or 1 teaspoon of ground ginger. 1 tablespoon, grated or chopped = 1-inch piece

1/2 inch knob of ginger, therefore, would be .5 tbsp of fresh grated or juice
